It stands at the southern tip of the lagoon, a two-hour ride by boat from Venice. It is the main fishing port on the lagoon. This city is connected to the sea by an inlet or "bocca di porto" of the port of Chioggia. Chioggia’s position has encouraged, in the past, the processing of salt and fishing activities.
